As part of the move to the cloud, organizations are increasingly migrating from on-premise instances of Active Directory (“AD”) to Azure Active Directory (“Microsoft Entra”). In many cases, this transition involves an interim step in which organizations use a hybrid approach involving both an on premise instance of AD and Microsoft
Entra.
As organizations transition to the cloud, they expect and demand that critical applications such as ITMS be secured by multifactor authentication. To meet the evolving needs of customers, ITMS not only supports on-premise AD and hybrid on-premise AD/Microsoft Entra environments for authentication purposes, but also supports Microsoft Entra only environments. This is possible by integrating with OpenID Connect, an identity layer built on top of the OAuth 2.0 framework supported by many identify providers.
Support for Microsoft Entra, in turn, enables customers to require multifactor authentication for using ITMS.
- Enables support for Multifactor Authentication
- Import Security roles, computer groups and user groups
- Support for Entra ID only Environments
- Authentication using EntraID Account for the Symantec Management Console and the Software Portal
Additional Information can be found in the white paper: Using IT Management Suite with Microsoft Entra.
Usage Scenario:
- Need MFA Authentication for the ITMS Console
- Need to import Users / Groups and Computers from Entra ID to Altiris ITMS
- No need for an On-Prem Domain to run Altiris ITMS
