Symantec Patch Management supports Windows, Linux, and macOS, as well as third-party applications, allowing organizations to manage operating system and application updates from a single platform.
Patch Management allows organizations to define maintenance windows, ensuring operating system and third-party application updates are deployed in a controlled manner that minimizes disruption to both server and desktop environments.
Patches are downloaded only once by the Symantec Management Platform and then distributed to managed devices, reducing bandwidth usage and infrastructure load. Devices outside the corporate network can securely receive patches through the Internet Gateway, ensuring consistent patch delivery for remote users. To further optimize bandwidth consumption, Delivery Optimization can be used to intelligently share update content between devices.
Usage Scenario:
- Supports client and server operating systems, enabling consistent patching across desktops, laptops, and servers
- Allows definition of maintenance windows to control when patches are deployed and minimize business disruption
- Enables CVE-ID–based patching to prioritize and remediate the most critical vulnerabilities
- Provides bandwidth throttling and control to efficiently deliver patches to remote and home office users via the internet
